Geography, geology, biology, and ecology. That's what we'll be talking about here at Atlas Pro. Well that and maybe some history, chemistry, and whatever else is really necessary to explain something. Point is, we're trying to learn more about the Earth, it's systems, and maybe more. Subscribe if that colors you intrigued!

Today we take another look at isolated environments to learn how islands can arise even when surrounded by vast seas of desert!

Obviously, by skirting Africa, the Pacific Ocean proves itself to be racist…
Not to mention the Mc Gillycuddy Reeks in County Kerry, South West, Ireland! Our mountain ranges have rocks dating back to the Sulurian ages. Mount Carrauntoohil in County Kerry predates Mount Everest to over 400 and 50 million years! An ancient crash of continents still available for all to see. Magical to witness
These videos give me more information than school
Yeah, I don't know. Seems to make sense. But Ehiopia isn't really a good example for good intra tribal cooperation.
Interesting video. Would like to have seen what it looked like even at 1500 m. What program do you use?
There is a cave lake that has its own ecosystem and evolution! It's the Movile Cave and it's super interesting
Cambridge University astronomers just found evidence for life on an exoplanet, using JWST !! K2-18b is the planet.
I don't like this idea that differnet ethnic groups cant share a country without violence...
🐕💚🍕 decency love and kindness are the rarest ingredients of the universal stew making up all that we know and the secret to enjoying this slop is to have enough bread because the more you have the less shit you have to eat
🤔 and another secret to success is don't be ninja bill's brother avoid being ninja bill's brother at all costs cause if you don't it costs you all 🎼🎻 thank you ninja bill
Decency and kindness are concepts foreign to most like eternity and infinity and don't enter or play any in their lives 🐕💚🍕
BALLOONS ARE RARE?
1978, mainly cuz of Zaire flag and thr Iranian Revolution date.
I think the fact that caves can also flood during heavy rainfall may also be a reason that salamanders thrive in cave environments. A few of the fully cave-dwelling salamanders that were shown, like the olm and the cascade caverns salamander, exhibit neoteny. They keep the gills they had as juveniles, which can come in handy in an environment that may flood with little to no warning. A salamander without gills would find it difficult to hunt or breathe if their home cavern was totally filled with water, and need to wait until floodwaters recede.
I’ve never heard of fisherman conflict with Blue Penguins in Australia, where they are a protected species.
The hypocrisy, Hindu 'mythology' and Christian 'theology'🤡🤡
The polar bears ate them all. Nasty Polar Bears!
What is outro song??
On the topic of islands, Can you make a video of GAArlandia?
What about the fox
Great video. I'd love to see one about nuts and seeds. And perhaps a mention about forbidden fruit, fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and fruit from the tree of life. Thanque.
In my AP environmental science class this was such a confusing topic for me, but this cleared things up so much. Thank you! Now I can be confidence about this topic during my AP exam next week. :)
the camera sound at 9:55 really spooked me :(
Simple answer is the polar bear.
I can imagine anyone feeling a sense of nostalgia after living through massive geopolitical shifts, regardless of modern sentiments surrounding those shifts. That said, given that it was produced by a self-described toy company, I get a feeling it wasn't marketed to adults except as a way to make their children appear smart from a distance. It probably bears some historical significance in marking a period when people could afford to buy globes simply to have in the background.
I would love to see a follow-up video about more recent domestications (such as the ongoing process of domesticating the musk ox up in Alaska)
I wondered if this video was going to mention the "true" penguins. So I read the comments.
13:25 Largest ice free landmass? *cough, cough* Africa *cough*
As a hobby I read/watch the goingings on of Oceans, i can tell you that the heating of the seas IS the most direct enemy for life. Heat from fossil fuel burning makes the atmosphere take up more moisture fr said seas, that heat & moisture is weather, the weather is now uperchargd in every form, be it rain or lightning, wind or storms it is all gtting bigger more powerful. We will all starve long before our colective feet get wet. The very dry opinioned UK statistical association released a report looking at the 30 year future. It discribes how societies slowly become disfunctional. The failing of industries that cause mass banking ystem fails followed by governments not paying out pentions etc, 30 years thats it. Time to pull your collective heads out of the sand me thinks.
I think you missed litchi? Or you might have mentioned it with some other name, let me know
Guarana is very bitter. the guaraná soda is most made of banana and apple juice with a "flavour" of guaraná.
You showed some brazilian fruits but forgot the Cajú. from where it takes the cajun nuts and the fruit itself. (there are other exoctic fruits in the country side but they dont have big scales. like Araça and Caju do cerrado, min caju fruit).
Answer: Shortly after WW2 when the borders of Europe were yet to be properly defined

I love penguins 🐧

The arabia written in arabic on the thumbnail 😅😂
Kodkod is part of the same genus as the ocelot, not closely related to the jaguar the way you implied. Jaguars are more closely related to lions and leopards, being part of the genus Panthera.
Watermelon origins needed a jump scare warning
2-3 thousand years not our lifetime Mister Gore
The crazy thing is that hatzegopteryx could probably still fly; pterosaur bones are super light, and unlike birds, they took off with their front limbs, so they didn't have to waste mass lugging around a seperate set of muscles for taking off on top of those used for flight. One of the major theories for how they were able to get so big is that they could fly between islands, meaning they effectively had much larger hunting grounds than their terrestrial counterparts.
I was never interested in dinosaurs as a kid either. Mostly because most of the stuff about them targeted towards kids presented them less as actual animals, with behavior patterns and lives similar to animals we see today, and more as monsters that were mostly just impressive for their size and/or horns and/or claws, and that's just never something I found very interesting.
You should do a series on rivalries between different animals, some broad ideas would be like “current evolutionary arms races” or “the oldest rivalries in nature”. It doesn’t just have to be animals outcompeting, it could be plants and animals, or plants and plants or even fungi vs whatever. I think you do such a good job with nature related anything, it is also extremely broad and I think it fits your channel extremely well. (I also lack the drive and know how on making videos so I will never do so)

What if we shoot water bears or other resilient micro organisms to habitable planets would that possibly kickstart life?
Baja California is one of the most unique environments on Earth and contains a large amount of endemism. To describe it as 'mostly just rock and sand' is to overlook the its subtlety and complexity. The Sonoran desert in Baja could be its own video!
